Service Projects - CAF - Pagosa Outreach Connection

The POC is a collaborative multi-sector group of business, faith-based organizations, non-profits, and governmental agencies who gather weekly to screen, advocate and provide financial assistance to residents in need. POC provides this service as a one-time intervention to support residents who are experiencing a financial hardship or crisis. Requests for assistance vary greatly, but the two largest categories are housing (approximately 40% which includes past due rent or mortgage) and transportation (approximately 30% which includes past due car payments, insurance, and essential car repairs). Examples of other areas of assistance are past due utility and telephone bills where service may be discontinued, and non-reimbursable medical expenses such as eyeglasses. In 2021, the POC provided approximately $62,000 of assistance to Archuleta residents. Of that amount, approximately $3,000 was donated by Rotary.
