The Rotary Club of Pagosa Springs is now accepting applications for the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program, an all-expense-paid leadership experience for local high school students. Applications are open to current 10th and 11th graders and must be submitted by March 13 at 6 p.m.

This year’s RYLA in the Rockies program is built around the theme “Light the Way,” focusing on leadership development, open communication, trust-building, and service. The immersive, hands-on program emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth through experiential learning.

Selected students will attend a professionally led, multi-day leadership retreat featuring outdoor and team-based activities such as orienteering, low-ropes courses, and group challenges. Participants explore ethical leadership and collaboration while developing communication and problem-solving skills.

The 2026 RYLA retreat will take place June 12–15 at the Golden Bell Camp and Conference Center in Divide, Colorado. Transportation, lodging, meals, and program costs are fully covered through Rotary scholarships.

RYLA is designed for students who demonstrate leadership potential and are active in school, sports, clubs, or community organizations. In return, scholarship recipients are expected to represent Pagosa Springs positively, give a brief presentation to the Pagosa Springs Noon Rotary Club, and volunteer at least one Rotary-sponsored event following the retreat.

Students interested in applying can find the application at https://tinyurl.com/w7p63uz9. More information about the program is available at rylaintherockies.org.
